Classified Town of Art, Lille preserved of its past many buildings
of artistic influences varied from the Average Age until the industrial
development at XIXth century: Gothic to traditional, Flemish rebirth
to the New Art, here Hindu cupolas approach medieval crenels, the
brick approach the stone or ceramics, for the greatest pleasure
of the eyes.
Lille and its surroundings also have many museums, of which several
saw their completed restoration.
All the metropolis knows moreover one intense cultural life where
the spectacle living and all arts offered a place of choice.

In the old city :
- The « Palais Rihour »: current seat of the Tourist
office Built in XVth century by Philippe « le Bon ».
- The « Vieille Bourse » : Built in 1652, Flemish Baroque
architecture. Composed of 24 small houses laid out around an interior
court which accomodates a flower market and secondhand booksellers.
Entirely restored thanks to the patronage of several communities
and large companies of North.
- The « Grande Garde » : built in 1717, classical architecture.
Shelter the theatre of the Metaphor today.
- The Opera : built by the architect Shoe-maker of 1907 to 1913,
neo-classic style.
- The Chamber of Commerce : belfry of 76 meters. Style néo-Flemish.
- The row of Beauregard : private house of three levels, typical
of architecture inhabitant of Lille of the end of the XVIIth century.
