 | Streets of the Old Lille |
Rue Basse |
| Formerly called “Low-Street” because of its boxed situation, it is during a time the “street of Grimarets” (name of a hospital of the time). In 1578, when the Dominican ones come to settle there (they were present in Lille since 1224 but must move for the period of restoration of the fortifications), the street takes their name. In 1793, it changes name still twice, passing from the street of Intrepid to the street of the Federation. |
