The street, open under the reign of Louis XIV, is called “street Dauphine”. After the battle of Jemmapes, on November 6, 1792, which sees Dumouriez overcoming the Austrians, the street is renamed “of Jemmapes”. Under the Restoration, it takes again its initial denomination before finding on February 17, 1831 its current name.
