| The avenue of the "Peuple
Belge", which sheltered with the Middle Ages the old wearing
of Lille, known as of low Deûle, was traversed by a channel
until the "place Louise de Bétignies" and today becomes
the avenue of the "Peuple Belge" when low Deûle is
filled. |

of the Treille. Park where all the district of the Lille Old man is
found there for a picnic as from Spring. |

| This park separates the Vieux-Lille
of the Madeleine and offers vast spaces of lawn which allow walks,
sports activities and plays with complete freedom (football fields,
wall of climbing). An ideal place to fill its off-peak hours by activities
of outside. |

| The door of Ghent east one
of the rare doors of Lille still upright. Built by Pierre Raoul in
1620, inaugurated in 1625, it replaced that of Courtrai demolished
in 1619. |

| The Bois de Boulogne |
In 1675, when the first trees were planted at the
Esplanade, Vauban could not imagine that about four centuries later,
it would become the most popular place in Lille on sundays.
Actually, for a srtoll with the family, a visit to the zoo or an early
morning jogging, the Bois de Boulogne and the mall of the Esplanade
from a fantastic whole around the Vauban Citadelle.
The Bois de Boulogne is the biggest green aera in Lille with its 50
hectares.

Created in 1863, the Vauban Garden was carried out by the landscape
gardener and gardener as a chief of the town of Paris Jean-Pierre
Barillet-Deschamps.
Garden of english landscape style, it is traversed by sinuous alleys
through the solid clumps.
An artificialcave supplies the various basins which accomodate ducks,
swans, hens of water...
Various monuments come to decorate the walks.
Thus we can discover the statues of poet Albert Samain, the musician
Edouardo Lalo and the Charles de Gaulle memorial.
A chalet called « aux chèvres » which was used
formerly as dairy, acts from mow on as puppet theatre. The garden
was classified historuc building in 1991. |
